A bunch of everyday Japanese things observed on today's bike ride.
I made a long, zig-zaggy circle around Tokyo today. By loading maps on wifi before I went out, I was able to use my iPhone's GPS the whole time. It's a liberating experience — you don't have to stick to a route or a plan.
Here are a few everyday things I spotted:
- Japanese people can sleep anywhere. I've even seen people asleep while squatting.
- An ambulance A firetruck (thanks Enrico). Kind of cute looking
- Tons of these small parking lots on corners. A little widget on the pavement locks a car in until payment has been made.
- Monitoring the noise levels of a construction site.
- Teriyaki Burger. I know, I know — it's McDonalds. But I had to try it. Life everything here, it tastes like fish. I got lots of giggles while taking this photo.
- A random amusement park I stumbled on in the middle of some alleys.
- A double decker bike parking lot.

I heard a siren, snapped a quick shot and just assumed it was an ambulance because it was near a hospital.
Looks kind of useless as a fire truck.
